.  Past   .  Ever since she was a child, the young Miqo’te had the feeling that she didn’t belong in the city nestled above the clouds. That this life wasn’t exactly the one she belonged in, but now she was here. On the streets as a displaced orphan there was little time to daydream trying to stay alive or at least she did her best to keep her head down, even being as small as she was. It wasn’t until near her teens that she was taken into one of the high houses to work as a servant, being relieved off those cold cobblestones by one of the squire’s of house Haillenarte; Kurrant Wolfguard. An Elezen son of one of the other noble houses. Side by side the two grew up together and had gotten closer as he continued his duties, and she helped with daily house chores.
It was when both had become eighteen that the pair confessed how they felt about one another, with help from an unlikely friend or two. The love was not to be when Kurrant met with misfortune days afterwards, being struck down by a man who mistook the knight to be someone else. The loss and grief was unimaginable for Anatha, but there was no bringing him back. She hadn’t told anyone for fear of punishment, but she had taken her love’s name as her own. The time that passed was like walking through a fog, until she met an old man on the street; Haruto Minamoto. He looked like something out of a fantasy novel, to her; katana and all. Immediately she set to following him until he confronted her. She wanted to become what he was and leave Ishgard.
They came to strike a deal, her body in exchange for training to become a samurai like himself. Reluctantly she agreed and it would become the worst two years of her life up until the night she confronted her old mentor; that the drinking, violence, gambling was too much.
